Burning Bridges or Burning Boats?

I was asked to leave today.

I received an announcement that a defunct Meetup group was being resurrected. The announcement read,

I am happy to announce that this group will be merging with The “Womens Lunch Group.(Sorry Guys, Girls only! I encourage you to check out the Southside Businessmen's Club!) Anyway, if you are a woman in business looking to connect with likeminded gals, join us!”

A few years ago I sponsored a “MeToo” discussion led by Ebony Carter. She gave all the men and women in attendance a compass charm as a symbol that we no longer had a map to find the path between the sexes. We learned that we needed a new path.

So, here I am stuck at the crossroads. I could use your help.  Does this mean I’m no longer welcome in a women owned business? Should I stop working for women business owners. I’m not offended, I’m informed. I’ll be on the lookout for signs that read, “Women Only, Men enter through side door”

I believe we have big challenges to solve in this crazy world, and our only hope for success is if all of us find a way to work together. I don’t mind burning the boats if it means we have to move forward. I share common ground with anyone who wants to build a better world.

Correction, It's the Southside Business Men's Club
