LinkedIn, Your Prospecting Secret Weapon
Adopting a "Look at Me" mindset on LInkedIn is the shortest path to disengagement. Stop talking, start listening, really listening, social listening. Here is three tips to help you engage your prospects right now...
In case you are keeping score, it's  1 down, 51 to go. For some, last week was a struggle. They had to show up for work 5 days in a row. Now here we are again, a brand new week is ahead. Only this month, Friday the 13th falls on a Monday. It was the most profitable week of my career. I don't say that to impress you, but to impress upon you that if your week wasn't all it could be, it might be time to bring out your secret weapon.
LinkedIn
If you have not dug into it lately, or thoroughly, LinkedIn's power to identify, connect, engage and generate results from your prospects might be a secret even from you. Before week 2 of 2014 becomes a memory, let's take a look at what's changed and how you can profit from a new LinkedIn strategy, starting today.

Time To Change The Conversation

Business professions learned how to use LinkedIn from using Facebook. They brought with them a 'Look at Me" mindset. Look where I've been, what I'm doing, what I'm eating. The result has been shameless self-promotion, painful visibility and disengagement. Stop talking, start listening, really listening, social listening. Here's some tips you can start using right now to change the conversation and improve your results before Friday. LinkedIn Groups - Go find your best customers. If they are not part of your professional network, invite them today. If you are connected, identify which discussion groups they value. Chances are, your prospects are also part of the same groups. Join. When it comes to choosing discussion groups, think prospects, not peers. Cal Jackson summed it up when he said, "Time to get out of my own gene pool." No-Link LinkedIn - During my Community Manager Summit, the number one compliant shared was shameless self-promotion. Their beef was not the promotion, but the attempt by members to hijack the conversation and drive traffic away from the group. The truth is you don't need to add a link to your fabulous daily blog post because you've already given them the perfect link. The one that leads to your LinkedIn profile. Perfecting Your Profile - A Discussion Group is where you plant seeds and watch them grow. Your profile is where the harvest begins. Visit one of your groups, click on your name or photo. What do you see? Is it a smooth segue, drive over a cliff or a dead-end? If you join groups containing prospects and contribute value,  your profile is their next destination. Speak to them, share with them, invite them. Soon your Path of Engagement will become smooth, very smooth.
