Let's start with what hybrid is not about. It's not about technology or logistics. We have all the technology we need. You can launch an event in less that two minutes from anywhere to anyone and everyone on the planet. Here is what hybrid is really about.
"Hybrid events are defined as a gathering of people around a table with people who join from their desks to be seen, heard and valued."
- Jerry Gitchel
In 2005 I switched from using the word Meetings to the word Events to make the definition more inclusive. It started a fight within a national association. In 2015 I moved beyond Events to broaden the idea to Gathering, when I launched The Gatering here in Jacksonville at the Deerwood Bistro.
I've been challenged during the pandemic to find leaders who see where the future of events and work are headed. So many have expressed a longing to move back in time as a defense of the status quo. Something they call "Normal".
I was delighted early this morning to discover I'm not the only one with a future mindset. Below I've shared links to a two-part podcast by. Brenè Brown featuring Priva Parker titled, "How We Return and Why In Matters"
If you lead an association, company or organization of people, I hope you will invest in their future by listening to an extraordinary conversation. I suggest you jot down some notes so you can get started on your groups future immediately.
