Overwhelmed! The Challenge of Too Much Technology Information
Overwhelmed! The Challenge of Too Much Technology Information
My Bad! My blogging and newsletter publishing system is so effective, efficient and easy-to-use I kind of got out of control last week. So much in fact I broke the #1 Rule of online publishing, Thou Shalt Not Overwhelm Thy Reader Sorry about that. A major goal for 2012 was to publish 1 blog post a week. I setup the technology. I created a written procedure. I made weekly posting a policy. Well, it worked. So well in fact I published 4 posts last week. I was pretty proud of my accomplishment, until I reviewed my delivery results in MailChimp. Although my open rate was steady at 50%. My click rate did not increase to match the increase in content. One of the 4 post didn't even receive a clickthrough. I thought it was one of the best, but squandered my effort because I gave my subscribes a bad case of TMTI (Too Much Technology Information. As bloggers we often measure our success by the amount of content we can create. We forget to ask, 'How much can subscribers read?" I thought I'd created a WOW. It was a Wow alright, as in, "Wow that's a lot of content!". I promise from now on limit my newsletter posts to 2 per week.

Success in Content Marketing comes from striking a balance between your ability to compose and publish, and your subscribers ability to read and apply your insights.
