The assignment was simple. Reduce the complexity and cost, and oˆh, get rid of those %^@*& ROBO CALLS. When a frequent customer offered a UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) assignment, I had no idea what I was getting into. By the end of the project both of us would have new office phone systems. I would cut their telephony stack and their costs in half, and I would lose my decade-long faith in an iconic technology brand.
When I watch a movie, I have no problem suspending my disbelief. I know I'm not James Bond or a Marvel superhero. However, when I discover a technology platform that promises a lot of value for very little in price, I don my super skeptic cape.
Tomorrow I'll share how I lost my faith while successfully completing the assignment. For now, let me disclose what you came here for. As if Zoom didn't have enough to do dealing with their incredible growth during the pandemic, they chose to add voice to their video services. As you would expect from a founder who is an engineer, Zoom Phone is innovative, powerful and creates incredible value, and it only cost an additional $10 per month.
Zoom United
The bundle includes Zoom Pro video meetings with Zoom Phone for $25 (the Video Pro service is $14.99). Upon installation, you'll see an additional tab displaying a phone handset icon. I don't need a desk phone. I work in a hybrid fashion from my home office. I already have all the hardware I need from my video studio setup. The bundle is perfect for me. Now to the good part. Zoom has packed a lot into the $10 price.
The system is truly unified. I can take a call through my mobile device or desktop. I can interact with contact database and automate my marketing. If your business runs on voice communications and you are looking to reduce expenses and complexity, check out Zoom Unified.
