I Work With Winners, Not Whiners
I attended a client holiday party last Saturday where I received one of the highest accolades possible. A staff member told me the most important thing I ever said to him was the title of this post. I attended a client holiday party last Saturday when staff member told me the most important thing I ever said to him was the title of this post. There's no whining in technology, so I hope all of you understand why I lost it when I read the following in the National Speakers Association group on Facebook.
Just maybe, I am too old-school? I believe in the work effort of attempting and making contact, live engagement with prospects, clients and advocates, face to face and voice to voice interactions. All of these other new-fangled, internet, electronic and social media strategies that do not produce a return on investment or integrity just might go out the door in 2013. Just maybe, it will be my big decision for 2013? — Mark LeBlanc, President - Small Business Success
Excuse me Mark, can we have a little more whine with that cheesy-ness? Somehow the irony of using Facebook to complain about technology went right over his head. I can't explain it, but something in my head went "ping". Before I knew it, I have pounded out the following reply.
Mark, you know I have enormous respect for you, your system and your success, but frankly, in the words of W. Clement Stone, I have reached a point of Inspirational Dissatisfaction. You sound like an old man standing on the lawn, shaking his fist at "The Cloud". OK Mark, I accept your Challenge. Here is my offer and my promise. I will work with you for the next three months to help you become the Master of Your Digital domain. At the end of our time together, you get to decide if your technology works and whether it was worth the effort. I'm placing my bet on technology. I believe with your small business success and my ability to make technology work, I am convinced we are going to rock your world. One more thing, if I don't deliver to your satisfaction, I will dissolve my corporation and promise to never, ever utter the phrase, Make Technology Work. Are you up for this, or do you need to go tell those kids to get off your virtual lawn? — Jerry Gitchel, President, Make Technology Work, Inc.
There is only two ways to look at this. Some of you are thinking I've stepped in it. I disagree. I think I've stepped up to it.  I just responded to Marks Facebook post, I'm waiting for a response. I could use your help. If your technology works, and by that I mean it creates profits, please share your experience in a comment below.
