Part 3 of a 5 part series on how to get started at the start of a new year. Today – Internet Video - Next - Business Blogging - or Part 1 - CRM
Anything but YouTube
Yes, I know, it's a clearing house for all the videos on the planet, a SEO must do, backed by Google, better that sliced bread. All true, but only from a Google-centric, technology focus. What if helping Google pay the rent is not your primary business focus? For too long the use of Internet video has demanded from us the equivalent of a virtual , "Because I said so!" commandment. Let me share a slightly different point of view. Let's start with a simple question. What are you trying to accomplish? Boost the SEO of your video? Making Money for Google? I believe your focus should be to create value, drive traffic to your web presence, support your business model. If that makes sense to you, consider the following:- Your video should not be a preview of coming attractions, leading to every other video on YouTube.
- Not only should your video be the feature presentation, it should be presented from your site.
- Not only presented from your site, but it should start from a separate popup window.
- Hand the "clicker" to the visitor, they should be in charge of when or if, your video appears (No more auto-starts, please!)
- Put your customers on the Marque and give them featured billing (both their friends and their Mom are sure to watch).
