Fixing to Wait For the 4th of July
Fixing to Wait For the 4th of July
I'm originally from the South. Okay, I'm from Southern California. When I arrived in Florida years ago I had to learn the local language. The phrase, "Fixing to.." gives us Southerners the time to consider our options before we venture out into the hot Summer sun. Recently I've encountered a number of clients and prospects who have decided to wait until "After the 4th of July" to get started on a project. This started 3 weeks ago. It makes sense if you've scheduled a vacation. If not, I can only image the progression of this excuse. First it's 4th of July, then the end of summer, then after the leaves have turned, then after they've been raked up. Why wait to accomplish big things, achieve your dreams, clean off your desk? I've found that the most productive day of the year is the last day before the start of vacation. It's amazing how much you can accomplish when you know there are no more days. Sir Richard Branson offered a good approach in his recent LinkedIn post, Relax, But Don't Take the Summer Off From Great Ideas. What are you fixing to accomplish this Summer? I plan to invest time helping my clients leverage technology to connect with those they serve best. I'm in the middle of my first book, Make Your Technology Work. I'm in the studio recording my first training product. I hope you have big plans. I'd love to hear about them, call me and we will take a virtual coffee break, 727-278-9382 Hope you enjoyed your holiday and took this opportunity to thank those who ensure we keep our independence. Thank you for your service, John Henry Gitchel.
