Client Celebrations – The Blue Folder Dance
Client Celebrations – The Blue Folder Dance
Chef Duane's Ice Cream SocialIt started with an Ice Cream Social for a project engagement for the Jacksonville, FL Medtronic facility[That's Chef Duane in the photo]. There is nothing quite like a party to let a team know that a project has officially started. The success of that project taught me the importance of celebration in our business life. It an era of continuous news, continuous social streams and endless task-lists, It's important to celebrate your business milestones.

The Blue Folder Dance

It happened quite by accident. Here at Make Technology Work there is an official client on-boarding procedure. One of the most symbolic is the labeling of the blue client folder. Why blue? Just because. It started almost 20 years ago, so honestly, I don't remember why I picked blue. What I do remember is getting busted by my assistant when I jumped up with blue folder in hand and whooped and hollered and waved it in the air. It was our first big project and I was happy. It just became part of the corporate culture. Because it was so long ago, thankfully there is no archive video clip!

How do You Celebrate Your Success?

The fast pace of Internet life seems to run all the tasks and deadlines into a blur. We hardly take time to acknowledge good work, accomplishments, new beginnings. But we should. Why not start right now? My personal motto is Just Another Day in Paradise. If it's raining it's Just Another Rainy Day in Paradise. or Just Another Hot Day in Paradise. It's easy to find problems and challenges, but it really doesn't take much effort to find something to celebrate today. Here's my recent list.
  • Received my Granddaughter Devon's school picture.
  • Successfully launched a user support center for the Linda Harvey Group
  • Started an engagement with a new client, Xpress Technologies.
  • Turned off the A/C (hopefully until next year).
  • Worked out on Jacksonville Beach with my best friend Jeff (OK it was a fast walk).
  • Maintained my weight at under 200 lbs for the last 8 months
See, it's easy. Now it's your turn.  Use the social buttons below to share what you are celebrating today.
