Are You a Real Human Being?
Are You a Real Human Being?
Technology is nothing but a pipe wrench, a tool to accomplish a goal. When you find yourself frustrated because your technology doesn't work, don't blame the technology, fix it...
It's a question often asked when you fill out an online form. It's called a "CAPTCHA". Meant as a tactic to deter robot generated spam, the unintended consequence is to deter real human beings from connecting. There is more to being human than having your purchase "Approved" at the checkout by a credit card terminal. This point was brought home to me last Friday during a live phone chat with Dave Howlett, RHB.  We live in different cities in different countries and work with different clients.  How did we end up on the phone? We connected through LinkedIn. We have shared interests in fitness, the CRM platform Nimble.com and being human. It took a live chat to figure out that last one. Dave created the RHB (Real Human Being) philosophy. I simply support it. To check it out all you need to do is watch his short animation on the 3 Gears. Technology is nothing but a pipe wrench, a tool to accomplish a goal. When you find yourself frustrated because your technology doesn't work, don't blame the technology.  A CAPTCHA builds walls, LinkedIn builds bridges. Dave leveraged the technology he already had to build a relationship. It didn't lead to an immediate sale, or a commitment to work together, but that wasn't the goal. His investment has already paid dividends, simply by making the connection. In a world where communications moves at the speed of light, trust illuminates the direction forward.
